Youth Spring Tune Up Follow-up:
The chapter recently had the Youth Spring Tune Up outing (formerly known as the Top Water Challunge) on June 5. The event was held on Holcombe Flowage with emphasis on getting some youth out fishing. Four youth attended which was really cool to see! Jeff Dutter fished the day with Matt Ross, Grayson Ellefson was with Josh Rabska, Fischer Smith was with his Dad Jason, and Leah Frome was with her Dad Luke Frome. There were a total of 5 fish caught during the event which was cut short at 4 pm due to extremely hot temps. Jason smith won it with 3 fish (30”, 31.5”, and 32.5”). Don Maves was able to land a 36 incher (not pictured) which tied for big fish with Fischer Smith who also landed a 36 incher. There was even a sturgeon Josh Rabska wound up accidentally snagging up in Main Creek! All of the kids had fun and were all given some free baits from the chapter.
Big thanks to Terry Moulton who also donated some free baits for the kids! Fischer smith won the rod donated by the chapter with his 36 inch fish. This was a fun event and it was great to see the kids out. Hopefully we can continue to involve some youth with these outings.
